Chris Froh
Chris Froh began his study of percussion at the age of eleven. At age twelve, he began studying the marimba, and moved to Japan to study marimba and improvisation with the well-known Japanese composer and pedagogue, Keiko Abe. He returned to the United States to finish his studies at the University of Michigan.
Alex Rosenfeld
Alex Rosenfeld leads a busy life as a freelance orchestral hornist, previously holding positions in the Louisiana Philharmonic & Rochester Philharmonic Orchestras. He is currently Principal Horn of the SFCO, Fourth Horn of the Fresno Philharmonic, and Third Horn with both the Stockton Symphony and Sarasota Opera Orchestras.
Tod Brody old
Tod specializes in the performance of contemporary music as flutist with the San Francisco Contemporary Music Players, Earplay, Empyrean Ensemble, and Eco Ensemble. He teaches flute and chamber music at UC Davis and serves as Executive Director of the Marin Symphony.
Doug Brown
Doug Brown, originally from Red Lodge, Montana, is Principal Bassoonist of the California and Monterey Symphonies and a frequent extra with the San Francisco Symphony. Doug studied at the Juilliard School and currently serves as Lecturer of Bassoon at California State University East Bay. Hobbies include pickling/canning, snorkeling, gardening, petting animals, and hiking.
Michelle Kwon
Bay Area native Michelle Kwon holds B.A. and M.M. degrees in Violoncello Performance from Stanford University and the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. A passionate chamber musician, she is a founding member of the Delphi Trio. She has also collaborated with artists such as Itzhak Perlman, Menahem Pressler, Edgar Meyer, and also with folk and jazz artists such as Carlos Santana and Kenny Endo.
Jon Keigwin
Cellist Eric Gaenslen has performed as a chamber musician, recitalist and guest soloist in venues across North America and Europe. As cellist of the renowned Rossetti String Quartet, Eric performed at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, the Berlin Konzerthaus, and at the Spoleto Italy, and Vail Bravo Music Festival.
Emily Botel
Philadelphia-born violinist, Emily is the founder and a violinist in the chamber orchestra One Found Sound, and the baroque ensemble MUSA. She has appeared as a soloist with the San Francisco Academy Orchestra and with the Banff Festival Orchestra, National Repertory Orchestra, and Spoleto USA Festival Orchestra.
Eugene Chukhlov old
Russian-born violinist Eugene Chukhlov comes from a family of musicians. Two weeks after getting his masters from the Moscow Conservatory, he left for the US and made San Francisco his new home. Eugene is applauded regularly as a soloist and orchestral player throughout the Bay Area. He is one of the SFCO’s oldest members.
