Jory has performed as a violinist and violist with the SFCO for over 15 years and took over a new role as Music Director in 2024. We’ve been thrilled for him to share his incredible creativity, musicianship and humanity with us from the podium!

As a conductor, violinist, and composer, Jory Fankuchen has built a reputation as an engaging performer of many genres, as well as a passionate pedagogue. In addition to his role as Music Director of the San Francisco Chamber Orchestra, Jory is the Resident Conductor of the Debut and Sinfonia Palo Alto Chamber Orchestras, and has served as Music Director of the San Francisco Civic Strings Orchestra. His faculty appointments include positions at the Young Chamber Musicians program, the Palo Alto Chamber Orchestra, and he has been a visiting lecturer at Cornell University.
